Specialist, Purchasing and Inventory Reports to:
Fulfilment Manager Summary The Purchasing and Inventory Specialist is responsible for overseeing all inventory transactions, coordinating 3PL warehousing and purchasing activities such as:
SKU creation, recommending stocking levels, coordinate the shipping of and receiving of product from manufacturers, maintaining an open dialogue with customers (vendors, management team, and colleagues), maintaining inventory levels, ordering and creating purchase orders, supervising product transportation, identifying and resolving any issues in order to support the Q Sciences Operations team with the daily operations and leadership of the department.
Responsibilities:
Advise manufacturers and warehouse services on care and preservation of items ordered, received, stored, and shipped; storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
Closely work with and oversee 3PL vendor transactions.
Be able to monitor packages being shipped across global markets through several different carriers (FedEx, Landmark, DHL, etc) Study records and recommend actions for reported unusable, slow moving, and excess stock.
Oversee the purchasing process in collaboration with the Operations team.
Lead strategic and tactical projects as required for Purchasing and Inventory.
Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
Schedule work for special and periodic inventories, such as promotional products, holiday specials, etc.
Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies.
Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
Maintain and improve the physical and work conditions of the warehouse.
Train and coach co-workers on all aspects of their job within Operations.
Develop and implement programs to improve client and employee satisfaction.
Ensure appropriate and timely investigation and responses to guest and employee concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college/technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
3-5 years of procurement experience, and either warehouse/inventory, and/or logistics.
1-2 years of operations management/team leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability & willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays with short notice.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Quickbooks.
Experience in inventory management and/or purchasing system.
Valid Driver's License.
